The unemployment in South Africa went up to 27.1 % in the third quarter of 2016 from 26.6 in the previous period. The number of
economically active people who become unemployed due to labour instability is very high. The Department of Education provides
safety nets for the poor through supporting meals at school and providing school uniforms.
